Does this sound like you?

"I've dabbled in watercolor on and on during the years but never made progress."
"I'm new to watercolor and I think I've watched too many videos and now I feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin."
"I want to learn how to paint with watercolors for months but never really got started, I am a perfectionist and a procrastinator so I have the hesitation sickness!"
"I put so much pressure on myself to create a beautiful work of art the very first time that I have avoided watercolor painting for years now."
"I find it so hard to decide what to paint, there are so many techniques. I like to learn so much, then I get bogged down with all the information."
"I have watched many videos on YouTube and practiced a lot of watercolor techniques in the last 8 weeks, but I still feel a bit lost."
"Lost confidence in painting skills and myself and haven’t painted in months."
"I want to learn how to paint with watercolors but I become confused with so much information, and I am still a watercolor dummie for now!!!"
"Whenever I follow a tutorial, the end result turns out nice. But whenever I try to paint something my own, it's always a disaster!"

You’re not alone...

Creating beautiful watercolor art isn’t something you’re born knowing how to do; it’s something you can learn. And the reasons most beginner watercolor enthusiasts struggle so much with this medium are...

ONE

They don't feel worthy of using high-quality supplies because they're “just starting out” and want to feel “better at painting” before they make that investment.

Want to know a secret? Low-quality supplies are the main reason watercolor seems so hard to control. And you can tell who's using them because they often complain of buckling paper, paint that looks chalky, and a blotchy finished painting. Which is really frustrating when you just want to relax and create something beautiful.

Truth be told, watercolor is a very demanding medium when it comes to supplies. Even more so than acrylics and oils. That's why it's so important to invest in quality supplies that will support you on your journey.

Not only will your finished artwork look better, but you'll actually be able to enjoy the process because your supplies will behave the way you want them to.

Investing in a creative hobby is your chance to invest in yourself. And you're worth investing in!

TWO

They don't have a solid watercolor color painting foundation & don't know how to troubleshoot.

Raise your hand if you can relate:

🙋 “I've been following along with YouTube tutorials but just can't seem to get the hang of using watercolor. No matter how hard you try, I still find myself mixing muddy colors or creating a mess on my paper.”

🙋 "When I follow a YouTube tutorial, my painting turns out great. But this never happens when I paint something on my own."

🙋 “When I try to paint something on my own, I don’t know where to start and what techniques to use!”

Painting tutorials are a great source of inspiration and a way to learn how to paint something specific.

But if you find yourself frustrated with your own results when you try to follow a tutorial or to paint something on your own, it doesn’t mean that you lack talent or a creative bone. It only means you’re missing the fundamental knowledge, an understanding of the whole watercolor painting creation process, and how to troubleshoot along the way.

You see, the problem with painting tutorials is that they only show you someone's recipe on how to paint a particular project. This means the teacher has already made a lot of decisions for you. From why they chose a particular reference, why they use these particular colors, techniques, and the amount of water and paint. To why they are even painting in this particular order.

And what happens… you simply follow along and you don't get to learn how to make all these decisions on yourself.

So if you want to confidently and successfully paint something on your own, without thinking “these artists make it look so easy!”, you need to know the foundations. You need to know what to do, when, and how, and be able to troubleshoot along the way.

These are skills all confident watercolor artists have. And the good news is that these are things you can learn!

THREE

They think everything should turn out “perfect” when they sit down to paint.

But what is “perfect” anyway? Looking at more advanced artists' paintings, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparison and feelings of inadequacy when your artwork doesn't turn out the same. But you must remember that everyone's artistic journey is unique and moves at its own pace.

And putting so much pressure on yourself to create something “perfect” each time you put paint to paper only causes unnecessary stress. Art is about reflection and expressing yourself in a way that can't be done with words. As much as we want to create perfect art, there is no such thing.

There is only art that makes us happy.

So get out of your own way, make messes, and experiment. Because that’s the only way you'll improve as an artist.

FOUR

They're trying to learn on their own with no support system to guide them.

YouTube tutorials are an inexpensive (and easy) way to learn about watercolor painting. All you have to do is press play and follow along. But what happens when your painting doesn't turn out the way you wanted it to? Many beginner artists take that as a sign that they're “terrible at art,” leading them to throw in the towel.

But if you don't know what's going wrong with your artwork, you won't know how to fix it.

That's where having the support and guidance of an experienced watercolor artist (and community) can help! Seeing other people struggle with this medium will make you feel less alone and more like it's a normal challenge (because it is). Plus, you'll have people there to show you exactly what went wrong so you'll know how to fix it next time. And sharing your artwork with others can help you to see the good qualities of your paintings that you couldn't see by yourself.

A supportive community is so important when you're diving into the world of watercolor painting (or anything new for that matter).

If you have...

👉 Dabbled in watercolor on and on for years but never made progress

👉 Put so much pressure on yourself to create beautiful artwork the very first time that you have avoided watercolor painting for years now

👉 Wanted to learn how to paint with watercolors, but you get so confused and overwhelmed by so much information

Then you're missing these 4 pillars:

The 4 Pillars of a Confident Watercolor Artist

Invisible Elements

Knowing how to manage internal dialogues that come up before, during, and after finishing a painting.

Magical Tools

Knowing how to pick, use, and unleash the full power of your magical watercolor supplies.

Frameworks & Fundamentals

Knowing what to do when, how, and how to troubleshoot to achieve the desired result.

Support System & Guidance

Being surrounded by uplifting people and guidance whenever you need support.

Even if you don't consider yourself a watercolor artist just yet and see watercolor painting just as a hobby...

Your artistic hobby is more important than you think.

It's so easy to get lost in the day-to-day grind…

...get up, go to work, come home to your family, go to sleep - rinse and repeat. But in all that craziness, you can easily lose yourself. Painting is a hobby that allows you to connect with your inner self. To open your mind, free your thoughts, and express your feelings.

But it's hard to do that when everything about the painting experience leaves you feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

By using the correct techniques and a positive approach to watercolor painting, you can…

...feel confident about your artistic skills and abilities

...control the water and paint on your paper to create realistic artwork

...translate a reference image or something in your head onto your blank paper

...make watercolor painting a normal part of your daily routine

...create beautiful artwork in less time

...do something that makes you happy and brings you joy

You don't have to continue feeling frustrated and overwhelmed when you sit down to paint. By learning how to work with watercolor and developing a solid foundation, you can paint anything you put your mind to!

Your creative hobby is worth investing in because you will be able to...

✨ Boost your joy and happiness by carving out time for yourself to do something just for you and help you relieve stress and reduce anxiety

✨ Find your own personal state of flow, where you can be completely present and fully immersed in a task so that you can respond to the world from a calm and balanced state of well-being

✨ Improve the way your brain works - your cognitive function -  by helping it exercise parts of your brain that don't usually get as much activity in your day-today-life

Imagine what it would be like to…

✓ Rekindle your creative hobby and finally make time to do something for yourself

✓ Get a break from the monotony of everyday life so you can start living intentionally

✓ Feel relaxed, motivated, and inspired whenever you sit down to paint

✓ Take yourself deeper into that world that you vaguely remember as a child

✓ Feel confident about your watercolor painting skills so you can proudly share your artwork with friends and family

✓ Uncover your own artistic style so you can paint freely and create art that's a true expression of you

✓ Know that you can control your watercolors every time you put paint to paper, making your experience more fun and enjoyable

“It is so amazing not worrying about getting a perfect outcome when painting. This “learning” state-of-mind has helped me to enjoy the process!”

Meet Your Instructor...

Hey, I'm Mako!

Watercolor artist and founder of Makoccino, where I help people find and share their own creative voices through watercolor painting.

For as long as I can remember, painting has been a way for me to express myself and do something creative at the same time. But I wasn't a natural-born artist.

I learned the foundational watercolor techniques while studying in school and fell in love with the way it felt to put paint to paper. Painting became a way for me to freely express myself and create something beautiful at the same time.

Not only am I passionate about watercolor painting, but I also love helping others add joy, peace, and excitement to their lives through a creative hobby.

Over the past decade, I've devoted my time to helping other watercolor enthusiasts learn techniques and skills that will allow them to grow as artists and find joy in the art of watercolor.

If you're ready to feel confident, relaxed, and proud of the art you produce...

“Makoccino, thank you so much for the first lesson! I have a terrible fear of 'doing it wrong' or my painting 'not being perfect', but the way you have broken it into doing exercises first has renewed my confidence!”

The Roadmap to Watercolor Painting is NOT for you if…

❌ You want to continue dabbling in watercolor on your own and don't value community support at all

It's up to you!

You have 2 Choices:

Option 1:

Signing up for the Roadmap to Watercolor Painting Course!

Option 2:

You continue to learn on your own and feel overwhelmed.

You hunt and pull everything together that you might need to start. Run into the BIG risk of putting it off or starting to question your abilities if you even have what it takes to create a nice painting. Or simply lose the joy because you are too busy buying all the supplies, watching youtube videos like movies, and comparing yourself (and your supplies) with others!
